Welcome!

We welcome all to come and see the tradition and worship of the Orthodox Christian Church, unchanged since the time of the Apostles.

As a member of the ancient, apostolic, Orthodox Christian Church, St. Innocent's is committed to worshiping God in Trinity, helping the community in which it resides, and transforming its members into the people that Christ calls us to be.

St. Innocent Orthodox Christian Church is located in beautiful Everson, Washington in eastern Whatcom County.

We want you to know...
  • You are welcome here regardless of your faith background!
  • It's okay to ask questions and to not know what is going on.
  • You won't be asked to do anything you don't understand or makes you feel uncomfortable.
  • Our children worship with us. If you have young children, they are welcome here, too. If you need to step to the back of the Church with your child for any reason, you are not disturbing us.
  • We don’t expect visitors to contribute anything to the financial support of our parish or our programs.
  • Service books and free informational booklets are available for those that want them.
  • You are invited for coffee and a fellowship meal after Sunday Divine Liturgy.
  • Orthodox Chistians stand for essentially the entire service. You are not expected to do this. We have bench seating for those that need it around the edge of the Nave.

What should I expect?

If you are considering a visit to St. Innocent's for a service but are a little unsure of what to expect, have no fear! The Orthodox Christian services are ancient and can seem foreign to those who are unfamiliar. St. Innocent's is a parish that is almost entirely composed of converts to Orthodoxy! So we get it. You aren't expected to know anything or do anything you don't understand. Simply come and see. Orthodox services are beautiful and powerful--a true gem in our busy modern world.

A note on Communion

The Eucharist (Communion) is only available to those who have been received into the Orthodox Church through Baptism and Chrismation. However, becoming a member of Christ's Body in the Orthodox Church is open to all. Come and see our services and speak to a priest after the service to learn more. Or check out our Contact page to get a hold of us outside of normal service times.

If you are an Orthodox Christian visiting from out of the area and wish to receive Communion, please speak to Fr. James prior to Liturgy. He can be reached via our Contact page.
